Farringdon MSCP

Synergy were awarded a contract in November 2022 to design a signage scheme for the award winning) 657 space MSCP on the site of the former Vaux Brewery site, which is an integral part in the redevelopment of this area of Sunderland. It won the Best Car Park of the Year at the prestigious 2023 British Parking Awards

Our brief was to design internal wayfinding signage, incorporating the following signage:

  • Floor Level Indicators on each floor, and within the stair core areas.
  • General wayfinding and traffic management signage.

Synergy, were provided with a blank canvas, in terms of the design brief, although we worked closely with the Design Manager of Sir Robert McAlpine during the Concept Design and Design Development Phases.

Synergy were provided with floor plans, the proposed colour scheme on each floor and a sample of the proposed building cladding, which was perforated metal.

Our concept proposal was to prepare a design with a pattern running through the numerals, which replicated the cladding. The background colour of each numeral was to incorporate the relevant floor level colour.

The Wayfinding requirement for this part of the project was more straight forward,as the Client had a list of signs that were required and was able to provide information relating to traffic flow.

Synergy plotted proposed sign locations on the floor plans and walked the site with the client to ensure that our proposal would work (it did).
